Recently Swell Surf Travel had the chance to explore beautiful Ericeira, a surf town 45 minutes outside Lisbon. We did a site visit to the gorgeous Immerso Hotel https://immerso.pt/en/
and we can’t wait for their opening in June 2022.
Sadly there wasn’t a whole lot of swell in the water when we arrived in late March, so we headed to Sao Julião, a beach break that picks up the most swell in the area so is therefore the most consistent. We often travel with boards and wetsuits, but whatever we were missing we got hooked up by Tiago Pires of https://www.tiagopiressurfschool.com . Surf mecca Nazare is about an hour and twenty minutes by car. It’s worth checking out even if there’s no swell just to see the break and the museum to the wave that is there. We stopped for a drink in Peniche and to check out Supertubos, which wasn’t working at the time but you could still see how good it could get.
We also spent a lovely half day at https://www.quintadesantana.com where we toured their picturesque grounds and drank some delicious wine. Swell Surf can coordinate a memorable event lunch or dinner celebration in this dazzling setting, with the option to add an outdoor yoga class or cooking class on the property.
The area is renowned for both food and wine, and we had so many delightful meals, but standouts included Mar das Latas Wine and Food

Ericeira was epic but we felt like there was so much more to explore – tennis, hiking, biking, and yoga are all popular pursuits in the area. Good thing we are headed back in June https://swellsurftravel.com/family-fun-and-fitness-journey/
